The Sea
Masseria Bernardini: the sea
The Salento peninsula includes more than 250 km of coastline.
We are on the Ionian Sea, where the coast is mostly low and sandy and the dunes are the characteristics that enhance the landscape.
The coast washed by the Adriatic Sea is mostly high and jagged. Here there are numerous caves and we recommend visiting them during your holidays. Do not miss the caves near S. Maria di Leuca!
You can choose the perfect spot for the day depending on the type of the wind. For the Tramontana (North wind), the best spots are on the Ionian Sea: close to Nardò, in addition to the beaches of the Natural Park of Porto Selvaggio and Torre Uluzzo, we have the sandy beaches of Gallipoli and in the south, those of Ugento and Pescoluse. A little further north, just a few minutes away from Masseria Bernardini, you can find the best spots: Porto Cesareo, Torre Lapillo and Punta Prosciutto with their crystal clear and shallow waters.
For the Scirocco (South wind), the best area is the Adriatic coast from Torre dell’Orso–Otranto to S.Maria di Leuca .
